Thirteen thousand years ago the interaction between the Pacific Ocean and glaciers created the splendid western coastline. As the winds constantly blew over the area, moving the sediment, lovely swirls of sand amassed along this shore. There is a plentiful supply of space available for Oregon sand dunes camping.

When you visit the Umpqua Dunes you will note that no motorized vehicles are allowed there. Pitch a tent in this National Recreation Area with its two miles of swirling sand dunes.
You can experience something different when you choose to camp in the actual sand dunes. A rigid set of regulations are connected to sand camping. Locate your camp in designated areas. Alcohol is not permitted and you must bag and carry out all your own trash and drown your fires with water. These rules protect the wild beauty of the Oregon Dunes.
On a hike over the dunes you will encounter the rocky tidepools near the ocean. The crabs gather here. If you are fortunate, you may see a migrating whale at certain times of the year. Camp near Florence at the Driftwood camp site with its sixty-eight available sites. You will find showers and host facilities in the area.
Honeyman State Park, is an area where there is a lot of family activity and a lot of noise. With access to the dunes and a large campground, this is a popular place. Its an ideal place for those who ride dune buggies and don't mind the noise.
Local residents take day trips to this area. They too, love the beauty of the dunes along the Pacific ocean. There are so many family activities to enjoy. They do not usually spend the night but go back to their homes near the campgrounds.
Your vacation will be filled with active days and breezy nights at Honeyman Campgrounds. The swirling sands stretch out before you and beyond them, the lovely Pacific ocean. The tall timbers reach up to the sky behind you. Enjoy swimming, fishing or just kicking back and enjoying the sun and scenery around you.
