Perhaps you are one of those fishermen who love to seek bass and you are always looking for a great place. If this sounds familiar then you may want to think about Lake Fork fishing. The lake was impounded in 1980. In terms of water, impounding means confined in a reservoir. Its deepest point is 70 feet and it features an impressive 27,264 acre surface area. Anglers from all over come visit this lake to take advantage of its prize-winning quality bass.
Before you head out to the lake, you should know that there are a few regulations in place by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD.) To begin with, there is a daily limit of 5 bass per day and a limit of one bass over 24 inches. Additionally, no bass 16-24 inches in length may be kept and must be returned to the water.
These regulations are very reasonable considering that this lake is among the most popular in all the United States. In fact, of the 50 largest bass caught in the state of Texas, 32 of them are caught in Fork. These regulations and the huge fish supply make it possible for all potential prize winners to try their hands at the sport.
Bass is not the only fish available to anglers who visit here. Black and white crappie, sunfish and catfish also call the lake home. For crappie, there is a 10 inch minimum length requirement except during the peak season (December, January and February.) During these months, there is no limit.
If you are a bass fishing buff, then fall, winter and spring are all good seasons, with the peak season being the middle of February through April. Lures that work best with this species tend to be jigs, plastic worms and crank baits.
If you are hopeful of a top notch experience reeling in bass, Lake Fork will not disappoint. It has proved itself to be one of the best spots in all the United States for bringing home some largemouth bass worthy of prizes and trophies.
